Chiropractic

Chiropractors train for five years full time to gain their degree. The training involves detailed studies, which include anatomy, physiology and neurology. A Chiropractor is also qualified to take X-rays and to interepret them. The final two years of training specifically involves preparing the Chiropractor to deal with treating neuro-musculoskeletal conditions, that is, conditions which involve nerves, muscles and joints.

Chiropractors use manipulation and various forms of soft tissue work, as well as nutritional, lifestyle, exercise and support advice to achieve excellent results with their patients.

By using their hands, Chiropractors adjust the joints of the spine or the limbs where signs of restriction in movement are found, improving mobility and relieveing pain.

Chiropractic treatment does NOT hurt, unless the condition is acute or inflamed, in which case treatment is always modified to your own particular level. If an area is inflamed then it may be temporarily uncomfortable for a period of 12-36 hours after treatment. This is perfectly normal and patients should not be alarmed. To reduce pain, try a frozen cold pack wrapped in a tea towel 5-10 minutes in every 30 minutes. You can buy cold packs, perfect for this, from your Chiropractor.
